High School to College: Fall 2025 Update

Great news for high school students in Canada preparing to begin college or university in September 2025!

A long discussed possibility among high schools is now official: IRCC has updated its guidelines to allow secondary students who have been accepted into a post secondary institution and have submitted a study permit extension application to begin their Fall 2025 classes while waiting for a final decision.

This update provides much needed clarity and relief for students and families navigating the transition from high school to higher education. We are also keeping a close eye on whether similar flexibility will soon apply to international students transferring between post-secondary institutions a widely anticipated change that could benefit many.
